Welcome to United Way of Chelan and Douglas Counties

This year, United Way of Chelan and Douglas Counties celebrates 70 years of connecting people to what matters – improving lives and building a strong community. The history of United Way is one of tremendous impact. In the past 10 years alone, we have invested almost $4 million in local services that make a lasting difference in the lives of people throughout the Chelan and Douglas County area.

No other single organization supports as many different services or is as effective in ensuring the needs of people living in our two County area.

In April 2007 we launched the Born Learning awareness campaign to bring infomration and tools to parents and caregivers stressing the importance of earlychild hood education.  For more information about Born Learning visit:  www.bornlearning.org

We work year around to make sure that your donated funds are well-spent in support of programs that produce results. United Way works to ensure that dollars are creating lasting changes in the lives of people. We are working to improve the ways people can connect with services. United Way is helping to bring 2-1-1 service to our community. 2-1-1 is a toll-free hotline that provides information and referrals that link callers to services when they don’t know where to turn.

Plus, we are a partner in the development of the information resource web site for Chelan and Douglas Counties.  Visit this site for a wealth of data on our area:  www.chelandouglastrends.org

100%
2008 Campaign

In mid-September, United Way kicks off its' campaign with a breakfast for all volunteers and supporters.

In late April, the United Way Annual Luncheon was held at the Wenatchee Convention Center. At that time, Bill Dobbins and Harvey Gjesdal and their campaign crew were were recognized and honored for the successful campaign. Keynote speaker was former CEO of Starbucks, Howard Behar.

Record Campaign! On March 20th the residents of Chelan and Douglas Counties not only met but exceeded the $730,000.00 goal by raising $733,960.00. This is a new record for the third year in a row! Thanks goes to Bill Dobbins and Harvey Gjesdal as the campaign co-chairs.

Now the task is to allocate the money back into the community. Currently funding is provided to fourty six programs through twenty seven partner agencies. Programs include services for children, teens, adults and seniors; covering all agers, providing help when needed.

"We hope our attitude and proactive approach to economic challenges will yield long-term success. As we work with our partner agencies, elected officials, donors and volunteers our objective is to provide clear avenues  of support for those in need, and opportunities for our communities to provide assistance." said Alan Walker, executive director for United Way.

Thanks to all who donated and supported the 2008 United Way Campaign!
